Valarie Drown is the Principal Investigator for the Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiver Support Initiative (ADCSI). In her role, she oversees and manages the staffing, recruiting, and day-to-day operation of ADCSI and works closely with the New York State Department of Health and the Research Foundation for The State University of New York (SUNY). Valarie is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York State.
Valarie graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and has a B.S. in Sociology. She has been with ADCSI since it was founded in 2016 and served in two positions prior to being named Director in 2022, beginning as a Program Coordinator and then as Co-Director. Over the course of her career, Valarie has worked in the healthcare industry for over two decades, including as a Counselor, Crisis Clinician and Nursing Home Social Worker. Valarie is passionately dedicated to her role and to the caregivers enrolled in ADCSI. As a caregiver herself, Valarie can empathize with them on the bad days and laugh and celebrate the good days. Valarie currently resides in Morrisonville, NY, with her husband and son.
